Cases and Work Items Notifications

Overview

The case management module provides the following notifications. They are generated for all kinds of cases: approvals, manual resources, and correlation (in respective versions of midPoint).

Case is opened

Generated when a case is opened.

Case is closed

workflowProcessEvent

delete

Generated when a case is closed, either by manual action, or automatically. May or may not be generated if the case is deleted without being correctly closed first.

Work item is created

workItemLifecycleEvent

Generated when a work item is created.

Work item is closed

workItemLifecycleEvent

delete

Generated when a work item is completed, either by manual action, or automatically. May or may not be generated if the work item is deleted without being correctly closed first.

Work item is allocated

workItemAllocationEvent

add

Generated when a work item is allocated to a new actor.

Work item will be deallocated

workItemAllocationEvent

modify

Generated when a work item is going to be deallocated from the current actor. (E.g. because of approaching escalation or auto-completion.)

Work item is deallocated

workItemAllocationEvent

delete

Generated when a work item is deallocated from the current actor. (For example, because of work item closure, delegation, escalation, and so on.)

Custom notification is sent

workItemCustomEvent

any

Generated when a custom event is sent by notify timed action.

The category can be used to filter events e.g. using <category> event filter. The operation can be used to filter events e.g. using <operation> event filter.

The hierarchy of event categories is the following:

  • workflowEvent

    • workflowProcessEvent

    • workItemEvent

      • workItemLifecycleEvent

      • workItemAllocationEvent

      • workItemCustomEvent

So, for example, each workItemAllocationEvent is also a workItemEvent and workflowEvent.
